阿尔斯特学院英语云教学分享——中外教同心协力打造精品课程,云端教学稳步渐入佳境

在过去的9周里,来自全球多国的阿尔斯特英语课程教师团队克服时差和网络等条件限制,携手合作,共同为学生的线上学习保驾护航。教师团队经过多次教学研讨不断丰富线上教学形式及内容,提升教学质量。

In the last 9 weeks, the English teaching team of Ulster College from several countries overcomes the time difference and network restrictions,cooperates with each other to support students' online learning. They discussed a lot to enrich the teaching form and content to improve the teaching quality.

阿尔斯特英语线上教学采用混合式教学方法和实时互动交流方式,充分利用云校园线上教学平台带给学生不一样的学习体验。

Ulster English teaching team adopts a blended teaching and exchanging mode, makes full use of Cloud Campus online teaching platform to provide students with a   comprehensive English learning experience.

 

 

1.专业课程研发团队,紧扣教材打造在线学习课程

1.Professional course development team with Blended Teachingfor Ulster College

为了确保高质量的混合式国际英语课程教学,课程研发团队紧扣教材内容,利用云校园推出在线课程学习大纲。根据课程计划,每班每周安排五节课,每节课分为Pre-class,In-class和Post-class三个阶段。在Pre-class中,On-class Teacher (云端教师)以录播形式详细解读本节课内容,指导学生在线自主学习;In-class Teacher(直播课堂教师)则根据学生的自学情况,对本课的重难点和文化背景知识进行点拨,引导学生利用云校园的课内和课后练习资料进行巩固练习。

In order to ensure the high quality of blended English teaching, the curriculum development team closely followed the content of the teaching materials and launched an online course learning system. Each class has five lessons per week and each lesson includes three sections: pre-class, in-class and post-class. In  pre-class section, On-class Teacher interprets the structure of this lesson, and guides the students to study independently. In the live-classroom, In-class Teacher will combine the content of the textbook and the student's feedback to emphasize the difficult points and cultural background knowledge, using practice to consolidate the knowledge.

此外,先进的平台设计,可以实现同时观看On-class Teacher (云端教师)的录播课,In-class Teacher(直播课堂教师)的直播课,以及学生和老师的互动交流。学生可以一边听课,一边完成云校园的课堂练习,听课练习同步进行。学生还可以利用平台的自动录播功能回放课程,自主复习。

Besides, with the advanced platform, students can view On-class Teacher’s recorded class, In-Class Teacher's live class simultaneously, and communicate with    teachers. Students can also complete classroom exercises on Cloud Campus while listening to the class. In addition, the platform also has an automatic recording and broadcasting function, students can click on “playback” to conduct independent review.

2.先进的云校园教学平台,集课堂直播、教学资源、学生管理于一体

2. Cloud Campus Teaching Platform (teaching resources, online teaching and teaching management)

云校园教学平台是阿尔斯特学院线上英语教学的一大特色。

The Could Campus teaching platform is a major feature of Ulster College online English teaching.

云校园教学资源丰富,包括课程学习资源、准备导程,考核说明等。课程资源囊括听、说、读、写训练,不仅让线上英语教学生动有趣,更能全面提高学生学术英语水平。

Cloud Campus provides plenty of resources to the students, including Learning Resource,Getting Started Session, Assessment Session, etc.The all-round training in listening, speaking, reading and writing makes the online classes more interesting and comprehensively improves students' academic English learning ability.

听力训练——云校园为学生提供了大量音频视频资料以训练听力。同时,教师每周会推出不同主题的听力训练,并给学生推荐一些如TED演讲、崔娃脱口秀等优秀的英语听力学习资源。教师也会根据学生情况及时进行辅导。

Listening Training ---Thec urriculum team uploads plenty of audio and videos to Cloud Campus.In the meanwhile,teachers also provide listening training videos related to different topics per week,and recommend excellent English learning resources like TED speech video, CuiWa Talk Show,etc. They do tutorials for students on a regular basis.

口语练习——口语练习是在线教学面临的一个难题。为此,阿尔斯特学院英语教师充分利用了云校园课堂直播、微信及QQ实时互动,给予学生更多的口语发言机会。课上,教师发布口语练习题目,鼓励学生通过连麦发言或以语音方式发到班级群,并做实时点评。课下,教师组织学生开展口语测试,要求学生以录制视频的方式就指定话题做3分钟演讲。此外,学生还通过QQ平台举办了以“消费者权益保护”为主题的网络英语在线辩论赛,多角度、多层面学习英语。

Speaking Training --- Speaking training is a difficult problem faced by online teaching. After many attempts, Ulster English Teaching fully utilizes the voice function of live classroom,We-Chat and QQ to offer students more opportunities to speak inclass.

Teachers encourage students to do oral presentation or post their voice message in classchat group,and make corrections and feedback in time. After class, Ulster College English Teaching Team also organized aspeaking quiz by requiring students to present a specified topic for 3 minutes by recording a video. Besides, students organized an online debate competition on the theme of "Consumer Rights Protection Day”. Students could learn English in multiple ways.

阅读和写作教学——结合云校园上多种形式的阅读练习材料,教师带领学生进行了包括精读、泛读等阅读技巧的训练,针对阅读材料中涉及的话题,引导学生开展讨论,培养学生的批判性思维。在对写作的训练上,教师积极开展辅助练习,指导学生从段落入手写作,并及时给予点评和修改意见,有效的提高了学生英语写作能力。

Reading and Writing Training --- Combined with various reading practice materials on Cloud Campus,students are led to doreading skills training, including skimming and scanning skills. They are also encouraged to discuss topics involved in readings to cultivate their critical thinking ability.

For writing training,students are expected to start with paragraph writing, and then focus on essay writing. With the feedback given byteachers, their academic English writing ability will improve further.

云校园线上教学平台还可帮助高效、准确开展学生管理工作。云校园平台的后台数据统计分析,为教师们准确把握学生出勤率和课堂参与度、跟踪管理学习情况、采取针对性的管理措施提供了依据。

Cloud Campus can achieve student management efficiently and accurately.By using background data, teachers could track attendance, participation, and learning    progress timely and then make targeted teaching management measures.

3.国际化教学团队培养具有国际视野的双语人才

3.International teaching team trains bilingual talents with international perspectives

阿尔斯特英语教学团队由多名中、外教组成。拥有不同文化背景的教师为教学注入了不同的文化特色。例如:来自英国的外教Kevin和澳大利亚的外教Hugh分别将两国的饮食特色及文化融入了课堂;中教也根据不同章节的教学主题,为学生补充相关的文化背景知识。这不仅开拓了学生的国际化视野,也培养了学生多文化角度看待问题的能力。

Ulster English teaching team is composed of Chinese and foreign teachers. Teachers with different cultural backgrounds inject different cultural characteristics into online teaching. For example,British teacher Kevin and Australian teacher Hugh both integrate food and culture characteristics of their countries to the class. Chinese teachers also impart relevant cultural background knowledge with the theme of each lesson. This can not only broaden students’international horizons, but also cultivate their ability to view problems in multicultural perspective.

线上教学期间,外教还组织学生制作中国城市旅游宣传手册,创新的作业布置,不仅让学生在兴趣中提高了英语概括以及口语展示能力,也让外教更加了解中国不同城市独具特色的风土人情。教师与学生教学相长,互相学习,互相交流,共同进步。

During online teaching period, International Teachers asked students to make Tourism BrochuresofChinesecities. This creativeassignment improves students' ability of English generalization and oral presentation with much interest. And international teacher salso learn more about China through this activity.Teachers and students from Ulster College learn from each other, interact with each other and make progress together.

阿尔斯特学院的英语课程旨在帮助学生从学术方面做好充分准备,实现与海外课堂无缝对接。疫情期间的线上教学通过专业课程研发团队科学的教学策划,借助先进的云校园教学平台进行。国际化教学团队采用灵活高效的授课形式,注重学生的学术技能和思辨能力的培养。课程考核将阶段性评估与终结性评估有机结合,既考核学生语言能力,又考核学生将语言与学术研究相结合的能力。两方三级质量监控体系对整个教学活动进行质量监控,确保线上学习与线下课堂教学质量的实质等效。

Ulster College English Course is designed toachieve seamless integration with overseas study inacademic learning.
